Discovering a Path to Positive Change

Thank you for taking a few minutes to read my blog! You may have seen me present on anxiety education over the past few years or followed these posts for social anxiety disorder awareness. These posts will continue to focus on anxiety education, but will now also include posts on general life improvement, life balance and more. To support new business services, my business name has changed from Peaceful Horizons (Releasing the Secret Pain), to Lisa Klarner Coaching and Consulting. Before I share the specifics on the new services, I have a story to share…

About a year and a half ago I fell into workaholism – once again – in my corporate job and ended up in the emergency room with dangerously high blood pressure. Fear and sadness took over my body as an IV pumping blood pressure medication directly into my veins tried to do its job. My husband and young son watched me from the side of the bed, patiently waiting…

In December of 2016, I decided it would be a good idea to go back to working full time at my corporate job for a few months. Thirty two hours immediately turned into sixty (rather than the planned 40) — and the increase in hours resulted in a drastic increase in my stress levels (and blood pressure). My body and soul cried out to me, seeking a reprieve from the job that was taking me farther away from my passion, my dream — my business.

Things had to change. I knew, deep down, that my workaholic tendencies, my desire to say “yes” to every request, my drive to live someone else’s dreams finally caught up with me. I realized it was time to listen to my soul’s cry to follow my passion even more.

In order to get my health under control, I took two weeks of medical leave. Seeking help from my counselor, life coach and yoga teacher as well as prioritizing journaling, meditation and exercise, I was able to connect back to the real me. Not the stressed out, overworked and anxious me … but the peaceful, hopeful and healthy me. The “me” that could be present for my husband, son, family and friends. My health moved quickly in a positive direction once I regained a healthy balance of self-care, family, business-time and job-time.
