Patience and Trust Can Pay Off

Everyone deals with many challenges in their lives on a regular basis.  Some people seem to handle challenges in stride and may even say they thrive on such challenges.  Other people show visible strain when even a small roadblock jumps in their path.  The observation I often make is that we are all unique in our own way.  Our perceptions of people may not always be right.  While it may appear someone handles high amounts of stress very well, they may be all torn up inside.  From an outside viewpoint, no matter what assumptions we make, we can be compassionate of other people and extend kindness whenever possible.  See the people you interact with as special, God-created, humans.  We are all here on this earth to make a difference as a friend, sister, parent, partner, etc.

When it comes to you, love yourself and everything about yourself (even the parts of you that you don’t like that much!).  Be compassionate and trust that God’s plan for you will come to fruition.  If you are dealing with an anxiety disorder, such as social anxiety, know that you will be able to find peace someday.  The peace that God has given you is there, in your heart, right now!  When you are present, in the now, there is no anxiety.  Being present is a challenge because people with anxiety disorders live in the past or the future the majority of the time and are controlled by irrational, negative thoughts in their minds.  Taking steps to bring yourself to the present, such as through meditation or simply taking a deep, focused breath, will gradually bring you closer to the peace you desire.

When it comes to patience and trust, I’ve learned a lot about that over the past few years.  Patience, I can tell you, is a continual challenge for me.  The phases of my life, from dealing with social anxiety disorder to writing and publishing my book required a lot of patience.  I often had to remember to breathe and trust that God was there for me, guiding me along in due time.  God blessed me with so many people who helped me as I wrote my book, one of them was Deb DiSandro, my writing coach.  She recently wrote a blog about my writing journey and I wanted to share with you.  To find out more about my journey through Social Anxiety Disorder, check out my book.
